Terms of Service

These terms are an agreement between you and The Butler Company ("we", "us") for your use of your butler: the portal, its phone number, the Mac app and the connections to other services (together, "the service"). By using the service you agree to them, and to our Privacy Policy.
Who can use it
You must be 18 or older and able to agree to these terms. The service is in early access: it's offered by invitation, it changes often, and parts of it may not work as described.
Your account
Keep your password and sign-in codes to yourself. You're responsible for what happens under your account, including what the AI assistants you connect do with the key you give them. Tell us at privacy@thebutlercompany.co if you think someone else has got in.
What your butler does for you
- Your butler reads what you connect and acts on what you ask: it can draft email, change your calendar, place calls and send texts in your name, and hand work to the assistants you've connected.
- It asks before it emails other people about your calendar, and before outside assistants text, call or spend on your behalf. Other actions you ask for, it carries out.
- Its answers come from AI and can be wrong or incomplete. Check anything that matters before you rely on it. It doesn't give medical, legal, financial or tax advice, and nothing it says is a substitute for a professional's.
Your responsibilities
- Use the service lawfully, and only for yourself and your household.
- Connect only accounts you're entitled to use, and only ask your butler to contact people you have the right to contact. Calls and texts your butler places are made at your direction; you're responsible for them, including any consent the law requires from the person on the other end.
- Don't use the service to harass anyone, to send spam, to break into anything, or to get around its limits or its security.
Your content
What you put in, and what your butler makes from it, is yours. You give us permission to store and process it only as needed to run the service for you, as the Privacy Policy describes.
Other services
Google, Granola, the AI assistants you connect, phone carriers and the other services your butler works with have their own terms, which apply to your use of them. We're not responsible for them.
Payment
Some features need a paid plan. Prices are shown before you pay. Plans renew each month until you cancel; you can cancel any time and keep the service until the end of the period you've paid for. Payments aren't refundable except where the law requires.
Ending
You can stop using the service and ask us to delete your account at any time. We may suspend or end your access if you break these terms or put the service or other people at risk, and we'll tell you why unless we can't.
Disclaimers and limits
The service is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, to the extent the law allows. To the extent the law allows, we aren't liable for indirect, incidental, special or consequential damages, or for lost data, profits or opportunities, and our total liability for any claim about the service is limited to what you paid us in the 12 months before the claim (or $100 if you haven't paid).
Changes
We may update these terms. If a change matters, we'll tell you by email or in the portal before it takes effect; using the service after that means you accept it.
Law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, without regard to its conflict-of-law rules, and disputes will be resolved in its courts, except where the law where you live says otherwise.
